Big & Rich speedway concert canceled

Aug. 5, 2006 at 2:14 PM

SPARTA, Ky., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- A concert by country music duo Big & Rich set for a speedway in Sparta, Ky., Saturday night has been canceled at the last minute.

A spokesman for the Kentucky Speedway, located halfway between Louisville, Ky., and Cincinnati, said the tour company representing Kenny Alphin and John Rich canceled the concert "because of routing and production issues," the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The five-act show also was to have featured singer-songwriter Alan Jackson, "outlaw" singer Merle Haggard, Deanna Carter and Shannon Brown.

The speedway had hoped to sell up to 16,000 tickets.
