Poll: Fans still support Mel Gibson

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Actor Mel Gibson's drunk driving arrest in California and his alleged anti-Semitic outburst have not turned off a majority of fans, a poll found.

About 5,000 people logged on to give their views in the unscientific survey conducted by "Access Hollywood."

Eighty-one percent said they would go to see another Mel Gibson movie, and 63 percent said they do not believe Gibson is an anti-Semite.

Gibson has admitted and apologized for his behavior during his arrest last week, acknowledging that he is an alcoholic. He had already been criticized for the depiction of Jews in his movie "The Passion of the Christ."
