HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Actor Jack Black, lead singer of the Tenacious D band, will play King Herod alongside original stars of "Jesus Christ Superstar" in a Hollywood benefit.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical will be performed Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Ricardo Montalban Theater in Los Angeles.

The one-night event is a fundraiser for YouTHeatre America, a multiethnic ensemble of youth ages 13 to 19 with an emphasis on at-risk and disabled teens.

Black, an alumni of YouTHeatre America, stars with original "Superstar" cast performers Ted Neeley (Jesus), Yvonne Elliman (Mary Magdalene), Ben Vereen (Judas Iscariot), Barry Dennen (Pontius Pilate), Clint Holmes, Chris Carey and Larry Friedman, Daily Variety reported.

Troikastar Entertainment will take the show on the road, beginning Sept. 12 in Buffalo, N.Y.
