Willis files suit against childhood friend

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Bruce Willis has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against a former employee and childhood friend who allegedly attempted to blackmail the actor.

People magazine reported that the "12 Monkeys" actor filed a civil extortion complaint Tuesday against his former friend Bruce DiMattia, claiming DiMattia had threatened to disseminate private information and memorabilia that Willis has confided to him.

Willis had previously hired his childhood friend to organize his family memorabilia, but upon termination of his employment DiMattia responded with threats of a tell-all manuscript and further exploitation of the memorabilia, the lawsuit alleges.

The suit also alleges that DiMattia has refused to move out of one of Willis' homes and to return portions of the family items.

The 51-year-old actor is seeking over $1 million from DiMattia, and either the return of his property or compensation in the form of a minimum of $50,000, TMZ.com said.
