McCartney officially files for divorce

LONDON, July 30 (UPI) -- Musician Paul McCartney has filed for divorce from Heather Mills in England, citing "unreasonable behavior" as the cause for the breakup.

The 64-year-old ex-Beatle alleged that Mills mistreated his loyal staff during their four years of marriage, the Sun reported.

Mills, whose name has been tainted through recent media exposure of past erotic photographs of her, is expected to file counter claims against McCartney.

McCartney had said he hoped the split with Mills would be civilized, to spare their 2-year-old daughter Beatrice and to avoid a bitter financial fight over the singer's over $1.5 billion estate.

"He was determined these details would remain private and he's very disappointed that somebody in a position of trust has revealed all," a source close to McCartney told the Sun.

McCartney has hired Prince Charles' former divorce attorney, Fiona Shackleton, to represent him in the upcoming divorce proceeding.

There has been no word on who Mills will hire or when she will file her grounds for divorce, the newspaper said.
