Harry Potter 'Prince' out in paperback

DENVER, July 25 (UPI) -- Two million paperback copies of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," priced at $9.99 and released in U.S. bookstores, are bound for the best-seller lists.

At Barnes & Noble and Border's, the sixth Harry Potter book in J.K. Rowling's series were set to get prominent display as the paperbacks went on sale Tuesday, USA Today reported.

The USA Today Best-Selling Books list showed each of the past five Potter paperbacks reaching No. 1.

The first three Harry Potter books in paperback stayed at No. 1 for a longer period of time than the hardcover. But when later Potter installments had larger print runs for the hardcovers, there was less demand for the paperbacks.

The fourth book, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," had 3.8 million hardcover copies published for sale July 8, 2000.

"We expect excitement," said Beth Wood, children's promotion coordinator at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver. "We expect big sales."

But the seventh and final book will bring the ultimate excitement. "It is going to be crazy," Wood said. "I don't know if I can think of a better word than that."
