SAN DIEGO, July 24 (UPI) -- Comic-Con, the convention that began as a comic book bazaar in 1970, brought 100,000 fans to the San Diego Convention Center over four days.

The major movie studios dominated the 6,500-seat exhibition hall through Sunday, but TV series featured in smaller rooms left thousands of fans unable to view presentations on "Lost" and other popular shows, Daily Variety said.

Security staff estimated that for every fan entering the 4,200-seat room for Sci Fi's "Battlestar Galactica," two were shut out, Daily Variety reported.

Sony's "Spider-Man 3" was the only major superhero movie, and the studio brought out Sam Raimi, Toby McGuire, Kirsten Dunst, Bryce Dallas Howard, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace.

Director Bryan Singer elaborated on a possible Superman sequel, and New Line screened a segment of "Snakes on a Plane" that drew cheers. Director David Ellis said the film was made particularly for the fans.

Fox showed clips from "Eragon," "Reno 911: Miami" and "Borat." Lionsgate rolled out talent-heavy presentations for "Crank," "Skinwalkers," "Saw III" and "The Descent."

"(Comic-Con) just keeps getting bigger and more crowded each year," Lucasfilm representative Steve Sansweet said. "It's a conundrum for them."
