'The View' ratings back closer to normal

NEW YORK, July 21 (UPI) -- ABC's "The View" may have seen a huge ratings burst in the wake of Star Jones' departure, but the numbers now are back closer to normal.

The ratings for the week of July 10 were much closer to the talk show's season-to-date average, but there was one major exception -- a 109 percent increase in female teen viewers, the New York Post reported Friday.

The increase is due in part to summer vacations and guest hosts like "General Hospital" co-star Kelly Monaco and "Insider" anchor Lara Spencer, the newspaper said.

Jones' departure from "The View" on June 27 turned the show into must-see TV for at least the week that followed.

"The View" shattered previous viewership records in that week with guest hosts including, Susan Lucci, Brandy Norwood, "American Idol" contestant Kellie Pickler and Deborah Roberts.
