"Everyone, including Marc, admitted that at the beginning of last year ('Desperate Housewives') stumbled a bit," said Stephen McPherson, the network's head of entertainment.

ABC will also have J.J. Abrams' full attention on "Lost" this year. He was distracted from the show last year because he was directing Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible III."

"We're really excited to have him back full time this year," said McPherson. "We lost him to 'M:I 3' last year. This year, it won't be a factor at all."
