Weber: High Expectations for 'Studio 60'

NEW YORK, July 17 (UPI) -- Steven Weber says he is happy -- and a bit anxious -- about the buzz his new show, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," is creating.

The upcoming series from Aaron Sorkin, which chronicles the back-stage dramas of a fictional late-night comedy sketch show, is scheduled to premiere on NBC this fall.

Co-starring Weber, Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford, the series has been touted in the media as exactly what the network needs to boost its sagging ratings.

"I'm pleased by it. It's a great project, with a great writer and a great pedigree," Weber told UPI in a recent phone interview.

"And, in spite of the pressure heaped upon it by the media and people's expectations, I expect that it will last for some time. I'm at a point where I have a family and I really just want steady work," he said.

"But ('Studio 60') might go beyond that. It might be actually interesting and tantalizing and smart and an example of what TV can be, if people allow it."
