LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- Fans of 1974's animated "The Year Without a Santa Claus" will get to enjoy a live-action remake of the classic planned by NBC.

Chris Elliot gets to chew the scenery as the Heat Miser and Michael McKean -- of "Laverne & Shirley" and "This is Spinal Tap" fame -- is set to play the part of his brother, the Snow Miser, the Chicago Sun-Times said. Elliot and McKean even get to sing the familiar songs as the two sons of Mother Nature.

John Goodman plays Santa in the new movie, which NBC plans to air during the holiday season. Delta Burke plays his wife who tries to keep Santa from taking a year off.

Chris Kattan will be the evil head elf while Ethan Suplee and Eddie Griffin will be his assistants.
