'Insider' spinoff 'Entertainment Tonight'

HOLLYWOOD, July 14 (UPI) -- The creator of "Entertainment Tonight" is spinning off a new Hollywood product, a three-minute segment for Showtime to run between movies and series.

"The Insider on Showtime" -- scheduled to debut next week with reports on Janet Jackson and the Showtime series "Weeds" -- is the latest celebrity news project from Linda Bell Blue, who has been the executive producer of "Entertainment Tonight" for 11 years. She has created "ET on MTV," "ET Canada," "ET to Go" and "The Insider."

Blue just signed a multiyear contract with "Entertainment Tonight," and was most likely highly rewarded for the success of "The Insider" -- a daily, half-hour magazine launched in September 2004 -- Daily Variety reported.

"Entertainment Tonight" is the world's No. 1 entertainment news magazine, said the entertainment Web site imbd.com

"When you break a story on 'ET,' you don't just break it on this show -- it breaks on many platforms," Blue said.
