Accusations fly in lawsuit against Jackson

LOS ANGELES, July 11 (UPI) -- The $1.6 million California lawsuit against Michael Jackson has seen accusations thrown at both the pop singer and his former producer, F. Marc Schaffel.

The most recent of these allegations came from a former attorney for Jackson who testified in a Santa Monica court Monday that Schaffel illegally sold the rights to a Sept. 11, 2001, charity record of Jackson's to a Japanese company in 2002, the Los Angeles Times reported.

In addition, Schaffel has been accused of backdating a series of checks in 2001 from Jackson's bank accounts totaling $784,000, all of which allegedly were made out to companies owned by Schaffel, the newspaper said.

Schaffel has also alleged that Jackson owes him millions of dollars for business dealings they had when he represented the pop singer.

Jackson has denied the allegations and has responded by claiming the former adult film producer owes him nearly $1 million, the Times said.

Testimony in the Los Angeles trial continued on Tuesday.
