Venice festival to honor David Lynch

VENICE, Italy, July 8 (UPI) -- Italy's Venice film festival will honor director David Lynch this year with its prestigious Golden Lion Award.

Lynch --the director of the cult hit "Twin Peaks," will receive the honor at the same time as the festival screens his newest movie, "Inland Empire," starring Laura Dern and Jeremy Irons, the BBC reported.

Lynch's films include "Eraserhead," "Blue Velvet," "Lost Highway," "The Elephant Man" and "Wild at Heart" -- which won the Palm D'Or in 1990 at the Cannes film festival.
