David Duchovny stars in DreamWorks' 'Fire'

GLENDALE, Calif., July 6 (UPI) -- California's Dreamworks has signed actor-writer-director David Duchovny to star with Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro in "Things We Lost in the Fire."

The story is about how a family copes after Duchovny's character dies. He appears in flashbacks as his former wife (Berry) and his best friend (Del Toro) confront their loss, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Susanne Bier will direct and Sam Mendes and Sam Mercer produce, with Pippa Harris co-producing. Shooting is to begin next month.

Jeremy Kramer and Mark Sourian are managing the project for DreamWorks.

Duchovny will appear in Fox Searchlight's comedy "Trust the Man," as well as "The TV Set," with Sigourney Weaver and "The Secret."
