LOS ANGELES, June 30 (UPI) -- Teri Hatcher is set to spend her summer away from the U.S. hit TV show "Desperate Housewives" promoting her new memoir.

"Burnt Toast: And Other Philosophies of Life" was inspired by the birth of Hatcher's daughter Emerson, and discusses Hatcher's views on life's numerous lessons, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.

"This book is about making you understand that you can be a good mother, you can be a good wife, you can be a good woman and still take your goodies for yourself," Hatcher said.

"Burnt Toast" will be the featured point of discussion on an upcoming Amazon.com Webcast episode featuring comedian Bill Maher.

Maher is the new host of "Amazon Fishbowl with Bill Maher," which streams on the company's Web site on Thursday nights and introduces visitors to the writers.
