NEW YORK, June 27 (UPI) -- Star Jones Reynolds, who has co-hosted "The View" for nine years, announced on the New York-based morning show she would be leaving in July.
"Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its 10th season and I will not be returning as co-host next year," she said on the air Tuesday.
Contrary to reports that Jones Reynolds was dissatisfied about the addition of Rosie O'Donnell in the fall, she said she was not leaving the show by her own choice, People reported.
"What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the 10th season," Star said. "I feel like I was fired."
Jones Reynolds, 44, was one of the original group on "The View" with Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar and Barbara Walters.
"The View" received a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Talk Show" in 2003.
