WOODY CREEK, Colo., June 28 (UPI) -- The Colorado estate of the late Hunter S. Thompson is being sued by a former assistant who claims the writer promised to pay her but never followed through.
Deborah Fuller said she agreed to deferred compensation when Thompson said he and his Gonzo International Corp. were in financial trouble, the Aspen Daily News reports.
Fuller was secretary and assistant to Thompson from 1983 to 2004 at his Woody Creek ranch near Aspen. She filed suit in Pitkin County District Court that she hasn't been paid for work rendered between 1983 and 1996.
Hal Haddon, co-trustee of Thompson's estate and an attorney, said Fuller has been paid what she is owed and any other claims fall outside the statute of limitations.
She claims she is owed more than $100,000.
Thompson, whose writings include the book "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," fatally shot himself in 2005.
