Genie Francis returns to General Hospital

NEW YORK, June 28 (UPI) -- Genie Francis, who played Laura Spencer on the soap opera "General Hospital," will return to the cast in October.

The show will reunite Luke and Laura, one of the most famous soap couples ever, just in time for the 25th anniversary of their famous wedding in 1981, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

The wedding attracted nearly 30 million viewers when it took place in 1981, making it the biggest event ever during the daytime on TV.

Francis left the show in 2002, after her fictional marriage to Anthony Geary, who plays Luke, fell apart.

The network declined to say how they will explain her return.
