NEW YORK, June 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. cable TV network FX has received more than 3,000 comedy pilots in a contest inviting MySpace users to submit new series ideas for the network.
The contest was based on the success of the network's comedy series "Always Sunny in Philadelphia," Daily Variety reports.
"Sunny" was the creation of a struggling actor who proposed the series to FX, and the network has reached out to the public hoping for similar successes in the future.
"There are lots of aspirants, filmmakers, actors, etc., on MySpace," FX President and General Manager John Landgraf told Variety. "It all comes down to creativity. That's what we're always looking for with potential shows."
Visitors can vote on 20 of the short pilots on MySpace.com/SunnyFX. The winner will get $50,000 to shoot a finalized pilot for the network.
