NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- The TV network Bravo has announced that the third season of its New York-based show, "Project Runway," will start July 12.

The fashion series will feature 15 new designers competing for the season's grand prize of $100,000 of seed money for the production of the winner's own line, a press release said.

The network also announced the creation of a one-hour lead-in episode for the premiere in which fans can watch the casting process that went on to whittle down the thousands of hopeful designers to this season's 15 contestants.

The second season finale of the show brought in 3.4 million viewers, making it Bravo's most viewed telecast in its history. The show's section of the network's Web site, BravoTV.com, was been viewed 87 million times since its launch.

"There is an inherent fun, intensity and drama to this series that continues to make 'Project Runway' appointment viewing. We believe Runway fans will be as riveted by this season's talented designers and amazed by their creativity as they have in previous seasons," Bravo executive Frances Berwick said in the release.
