Keane kept pressure off on second album

NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- Despite a platinum debut, the three members of the British pop band Keane kept pressure at bay while recording its new album, "Under the Iron Sea."

"We were pretty sensible about that, I think," says keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley. "I think we realized quite early on in the recording process that it was only going to be counter-productive to worry about what everyone else was going to think.

"I'm quite thankful we had the good sense early on to realize we just had to make a record that was thrilling to us."

Keane's 2004 debut album, "Hopes and Fears," spawned the hit "Somewhere Only We Go." In the coming weeks the band will play festivals in California, Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom.
