LAS VEGAS, June 19 (UPI) -- Carl Colpaert's film "G.I. Jesus" has been awarded the Grand Jury prize at the Las Vegas film festival, CineVegas.
Daily Variety reports that the film festival, which has made a name for itself through presenting unusual and experimental films over its eight year history, continued that trend this year with a number of world premier showings of unique films.
Honorable mentions were given to Tom Mattera and Dave Mazzoni's quirky film "The 4th Dimension" and Eva Aridjis' "The Favor."
Director Kurt Voelker's comedy "Park" won CineVegas' Audience award, while Till N. Neumann's film "5 Up 2 Down" took home a special cinematography prize.
Honored at the weekend festival for their achievements during their careers so far were actors Laurence Fishburne, Sylvester Stallone, Hellen Mirren, Christina Ricci and director Taylor Hackford.
This year's jury of voters was made up of director Mark Pellington and film critics Jean Oppenheimer and F.X. Feeney, Variety said.
