LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Sigourney Weaver is currently in negotiations to join the cast of the new Columbia Pictures thriller "Vantage Point."

Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, William Hurt and Forest Whitaker already have signed on to the thriller, the Hollywood reporter reported Friday.

The story follows an assassination attempt on the U.S. president (Hurt) and is told from five points of view. Weaver would play a TV news producer for a CNN-type network who will do anything to get the story.

Neal Moritz is producing the film and Tania Landau is the executive producer.

Shooting starts as early as Sunday in Mexico City.
