WATER MILL, N.Y., June 14 (UPI) -- Producer Mel Brooks, co-writer Tom Meehan and arranger Glen Kelly are in New York working on a stage production of the 1974 movie hit, "Young Frankenstein."

The same team collaborated to turn Brooks' film, "The Producers," in to a Broadway blockbuster, The New York Post reported Wednesday.

Meehan also wrote the scripts for Broadway's "Annie" and "Hairspray."

The creative team plans be holed up in a Long Island house for the next month adapting the big screen comedy for the musical stage, the newspaper said. Brooks said he is aiming for a 2008 Broadway opening.

"Young Frankenstein" is the first project for Brooks since the death of his wife, actress Ann Bancroft, last year.
