NEW YORK, June 12 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Tom Everett Scott says playing a flawed hero on the new TNT paramedic drama, "Saved," is a dream come true.
In the series, set to debut Monday night, the star of "That Thing You Do," "Dead Man on Campus" and "An American Werewolf in Paris," plays Wyatt Cole, a paramedic with a gambling addiction and a father and ex-girlfriend who won't stop pestering him about going back to medical school.
"I love my job. I can't lie," the 35-year-old actor told UPI in a recent phone interview. "It was one of the first characters I read where I thought, 'This is different; this is better than the others.'"
Asked what kind of man he thinks Wyatt is and what motivates him, Scott admits he doesn't really know himself yet.
"I think he might be a good guy. Right now, I'm just trying to keep him alive," he said, declining to reveal too many details about what else Wyatt will endure in the upcoming season. "They kind of put the character through the ringer."
Scott added that the role can be physically, as well as emotionally, grueling -- especially for someone like him who has "no background in physical activity whatsoever."
