PERRY, Okla., June 9 (UPI) -- Three men in Oklahoma began their day practicing their roping skills, but -- due to a simple missed turn -- ended it talking to Oprah Winfrey.

The Oklahoman reports that Cody Leitner was practicing his roping skills with his partners when a caravan of cars approached his home.

"I guess they thought a couple of guys roping in an arena really said 'Oklahoma,' so they stopped and checked it out," Leitner told the Oklahoman.

The media superstar has been traveling cross country filming segments for fall episodes of her show -- and when her crew missed a turn-off to Tulsa, they went through the town of Perry instead, it was reported.

Leitner told the Oklahoman he promptly phoned his wife with news of the surprise visitor, but she didn't believe it -- even after speaking to Oprah herself.
