Vedder joins Stokes to cover Gaye song

NEW YORK, June 9 (UPI) -- Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder is lending his Seattle sound to a cover of a Marvin Gaye classic with the Strokes and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme.

The musicians collaborated on a B-side for the Strokes' upcoming "You Only Live Once" single, Billboard.com reports, with a cover of Gaye's "Mercy, Mercy Me."

Vedder joined the Strokes for a performance at a party last month celebrating Rolling Stone's 1000th issue.

Billboard.com reports the Strokes were seen attending two recent Pearl Jam concerts in New York.

The Strokes' new record is due in stores in mid-July.
