Carolla announced the birth of his son and daughter live on his syndicated radio show Wednesday morning, People magazine reported.

His longtime friend and former "The Man Show" co-host, Jimmy Kimmel, sat in for Carolla on his show while Carolla stood by his wife in the delivery room.

Sonny entered the world at 6 pounds, 4 ounces, while daughter Natalia weighed in five pounds, 12 ounces, Carolla reported.

As for his wife, the comedian joked: "She didn't take childbirth like a man. Meanwhile, I was stoic."

The children are the first for the couple, who married in 2002.
