Field of four announced for Turner Prize

LONDON, May 17 (UPI) -- London's "pervy potter" Rebecca Warren, known for her large, lumpy, erotic sculptures made of clay, is among the four finalists for Britain's Turner Prize.

German-born abstract painter Tomma Abts, video artist Phil Collins and installationist Mark Titchner fill out the field of finalists for the modern art prize, The Telegraph reported Wednesday.

Warren has no formal training and her work has been criticized as making "Mr. Blobby look like Michelangelo," the newspaper said. The artist has described her pieces as "quite inept, but in a good way."

Her recent works include a female with her legs wide apart being licked by a dog and a naked Christ figure in a state of arousal, The Telegraph said.

The Turner Prize exhibit is scheduled to open at London's Tate Britain Art Gallery on Oct. 3 with the prize to be awarded in December.
