Civil suit against Nick Nolte to go on

SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 12 (UPI) -- A judge has refused to dismiss a civil suit filed by the parents of a teenage girl who was allegedly raped at Nick Nolte's Malibu, Calif., house.

In asking the Los Angeles Superior Court in Santa Monica to toss the suit, Nolte claimed he was being sued because of his "star power" and "deep pockets," E! Online reported.

The suit filed in November 2004 claims the actor's son, Brawley Nolte, threw a party while his parents were not home and schemed to give the victim the date-rape drug, GHB, and let a friend have sex with her, E! said.

Brawley Nolte was not criminally charged but his friend Nicholas Woodring pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of having sex with a minor in March 2004 and was sentenced to six months in prison.

In the civil suit against the "Prince of Tides" star, the girl's parents say his home had "a long history of furnishing drugs and/or alcohol to minors," the suit states.

The suit is to go to trial June 12.
