NEW YORK, May 9 (UPI) -- Whoopi Goldberg has been tapped by Clear Channel as hostess of a live radio show with a female-slant to be aired on its U.S. stations.

"Wake Up with Whoopi" bows in July 31, mostly on radio stations that play adult contemporary music, USA Today reported Tuesday.

Goldberg -- who has an Oscar, a Grammy, Emmy, Tony and two Golden Globes -- says she will provide "a different kind of voice in the morning."

Goldberg will broadcast from New York 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the show will be tape delayed for West Coast listeners.

The 50-year-old mother and grandmother has no radio experience but promises her show will be fun.

Goldberg said she's keeping the identity of her sidekick under wraps for now.

She said she plans on continuing her acting career, but for now, the radio gig will have her "full focus."

"I will continue to pursue movies if I want to make movies," Goldberg said. "I can take my career and eat it, too."
