
ENCINO, Calif., May 9 (UPI) -- Hollywood veteran Peter Falk was tapped Tuesday as a legend by the Video Software Dealers Association.
Falk will receive the Legend Award during the July 11 VSDA's Home Entertainment 2006 Awards show at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Las Vegas.
"Peter Falk is an entertainment icon who typifies VSDA's Legend Award," President Bo Andersen said in a statement. "It is with great joy that we announce the presentation of this award to Mr. Falk, a uniquely talented and distinguished actor who has the rare ability to shine in both leading and supporting roles."
Known to many as TV's "Columbo," Falk received Oscar nominations for his feature films "Murder, Inc." "and Pocketful Of Miracles." His other film credits include "Wind Across The Everglades," "The Princess Bride," "Shark Tale" and "The Thing About My Folks."
His next film, "Checking Out," hits U.S. theaters this summer.
