LOS ANGELES, May 8 (UPI) -- Oscar and Golden Globe-winning actress Kim Basinger is making her TV movie debut in "The Mermaid Chair" for the Lifetime cable network.
The Lifetime original movie based on Sue Monk Kid's bestseller will be directed by Emmy winner Steven Schachter, The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

Basinger will portray Jessie Sullivan, a married woman who falls in love with a Benedictine monk.
The film is scheduled to make its debut in September.
