Famed TV dog trainer sued for pet injuries

LOS ANGELES, May 5 (UPI) -- TV's "The Dog Whisperer," Cesar Millan, is being sued in Los Angeles by "8 Simple Rules" producer Flody Suarez for injuries to his dog, Gator.

Suarez filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, saying he took his 5-year-old Labrador to Millan's Dog Psychology Center in Los Angeles Feb. 26 in an effort to help the pup overcome a fear of strangers and other dogs, KCAL-TV, Los Angeles, reported Friday.

However, he said, a staff member at the center put a choke collar on the dog, put him on a treadmill and worked him until he collapsed.

The suit goes on to charge there was a delay in seeking medical treatment for Gator, who was eventually transported by pet ambulance to an animal hospital.

The dog has since undergone several operations and may never be able to eat normally, the suit charges.

The suit cites negligence, fraud and deceit as well as intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

In seeking unspecified damages, Suarez said the dog was both his companion and the logo for his production company.
