ASCAP to honor Lennox and Green Day

LOS ANGELES, May 5 (UPI) -- Annie Lennox and Green Day will be honored during ASCAP's 23rd Annual Pop Music Awards, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers said Friday.

Lennox will receive the ASCAP Founders Award and Green Day will get the ASCAP Creative Voice Award during the May 22 gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., ASCAP said in a news release.

Previous winners of the Founders Award include Ashford and Simpson, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Garth Brooks, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan's Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, James Taylor, Tom Waits, Stevie Wonder and Neil Young.
