Three men were convicted Tuesday of stealing the paintings from the Munch Museum in Oslo in August 2004 and a police spokesman told Aftenposten it is suspected they know more than they have revealed to authorities.
"Our view, based on information gained from the investigation, is that the paintings have not been taken out of the country," spokesman Morten Hojem Ervik said.
He said the paintings may have suffered irreparable damage being shuttled to different hiding places around the country.
