Jackson sticks with prediction of boy Idol

NEW YORK, April 25 (UPI) -- "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson says "a boy will win" the Fox TV talent competition.

Jackson told ABC's "The View" Monday he expected Elliott Yamin, Chris Daughtry or Taylor Hicks to be the last singer standing when the show wraps up next month, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

But "Idol" Executive Producer Ken Warwick told the newspaper not to read too much into Jackson's prediction.

"He said it was going to be a boy from Day One, and he's kind of just sticking with that," Warwick said. "The judges don't know what the results are. They never do."

Although the judges offer critiques of each contestant's performance, viewers decide who stays and who goes by voting for their favorite at the end of each Tuesday night show.

The field of six will be slashed by one during Wednesday night's results show.
