WASHINGTON, April 22 (UPI) -- The man the U.S. press dubbed "Deep Throat" has published a book on his disgust with the name, reporter Bob Woodward and the truth behind his wife's death.
Retired FBI Deputy Director W. Mark Felt, whose information to reporters Woodward and Carl Bernstein led to the demise of President Richard Nixon's administration, kept his identity a secret for 33 years.
In a book called "A G-Man's Life: The FBI, 'Deep Throat' and the Struggle for Honor in Washington," Felt said Woodward betrayed their agreement by labeling him as well as saying his confidential source was a high-ranking administration official.
"Mark has never seen himself as a chatterbox," said John O'Connor, co-author of Felt's book and author of the Vanity Fair article last year that officially revealed Felt was indeed Deep Throat, ending years of speculation.
The 92-year-old Felt now suffers from dementia, The Washington Post reports.
In the book he also says his wife, Audrey Robinson Felt, didn't die from a heart attack in 1984, but killed herself because of the stress of her husband's job.
