Prosecutor faces misconduct hearing

LOS ANGELES, April 21 (UPI) -- California's Supreme Court has ordered a hearing to decide whether a prosecutor improperly helped the producers of the film "Alpha Dog."

Murder defendant Jesse James Hollywood is seeking to have the state attorney general prosecute his case instead of the Santa Barbara County district attorney's office, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Hollywood's attorney said he may seek an injunction keeping "Alpha Dog" on the shelf until the trial ends.

Hollywood, 26, is charged with masterminding the kidnapping and slaying of 15-year-old Nicholas Markowitz in 2000. Four other men have been convicted in the slaying.

The state Supreme Court ordered an appellate panel to hear Hollywood's contention that a deputy district attorney was a consultant for the film starring Bruce Willis and Justin Timberlake, and improperly shared investigative reports with the filmmakers.
