'Harry Potter' star immortalized in London

LONDON, April 12 (UPI) -- "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe has become the youngest non-royal to be honored with a portrait in the British National Portrait Gallery.

The actor was 14 years old when he posed for artist Stuart Pearson Wright, who also painted the portrait of "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling, the Daily Mail said Wednesday.

The portrait of Radcliffe has him dressed casually in jeans and a T-shirt, "looking thoughtful" while sitting in an armchair, the Mail said.

Radcliffe said he posed 14 to 15 hours and it was him mom who would finally tell the artist "it's time to go."

The actor said his parent's initially tried to buy the portrait, but Wright told them the National Portrait Gallery "might want to snatch it up," so they bought another of his paintings "but not the one of me."

As for his opinion, Radcliffe said: "It was strange seeing myself as I was two years ago, not as I am now. I love it."

The painting will be unveiled at London's National Theatre before moving to the permanent display at the National Portrait Gallery.
