Hollywood takes on Terri Schiavo story

LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Hollywood is preparing to tackle the family feud over a Florida woman's life support that erupted into a national political battle.

Michael Schiavo's book about his wife, "Terri: The Truth," has been optioned by a quartet of producers who plan on using it for the basis of a TV or feature film, Daily Variety reports.

Schiavo died in March 2005 after her husband won a protracted court battle to end her years on life support.

"The story is almost Shakespearean in the warring of the families and the great love story between the (couple)," producer Marvin Minoff told Daily Variety. "It starts off so beautifully and then ends so chaotically."

The first step will be selling the project, which will start with the couple's romance, to a studio or network, Variety said.
