LOS ANGELES, April 4 (UPI) -- TV's "George Lopez" and film's "Sin City" lead the nominees announced Tuesday for the National Council of La Raza's ALMA Awards.
ALMA, which means spirit or soul in Spanish, is the name of the awards given by the National Council of La Raza for outstanding Latino artistic achievement and enhancement of the Latino image in the entertainment industry.
Both "Sin City" and "George Lopez" received four nominations.
In the music categories, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will compete among females while the male artist nominees are Ryan Cabrera, Daddy Yankee and Frankie J.
"George Lopez" will compete in the best TV show category against "Alias," "Desperate Housewives," "The Shield" and "The West Wing."
Eva Longoria is host of the ceremony being broadcast live June 5 on ABC.
