Stuntman sues for 'MI:3' injuries

LOS ANGELES, March 30 (UPI) -- A stuntman burned over 60 percent of his body during the making of "Mission Impossible 3" is suing Paramount Pictures and Tom Cruise's production company.

The suit filed by Steven Scott Wheatley in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday claimed negligence by the companies caused him "severe personal injury," TMZ.com reported Thursday.

A gasoline bomb exploded during the filming of a scene last June engulfing Wheatley in a "ball of fire," the suit said.

A Chevy Suburban was supposed to flip after being hit with the bomb, but it instead stood still while the prematurely fired pyrotechnic hit the stuntman, he charged.

In addition to the negligence, the suit seeks compensation for Wheatley's wife Mary for loss of marital relations.
