NEW YORK, March 30 (UPI) -- Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and Graham Nash are soliciting donations to help former Orleans frontman John Hall run for the U.S. Congress.

Hall, a Democrat, is seeking the House seat in New York's 19th District, Billboard.com reported.

Hall is best known in music circles for writing "Dance With Me" in 1974 and "Still the One" a year later.

An anti-nuclear activist and principal member in Musicians United for Safe Energy, Hall helped Raitt, Browne and David Crosby organize the No Nukes concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden in 1979, Bilboard.com said.

E-mail sent by Raitt, Browne and Nash congratulated Hall for setting his music career aside to "dedicate himself to politics for the better of us all."

The note goes on to ask fans to vote for Hall in the Sept. 12 primary as well as send money to help him in his quest to replace Rep. Sue Kelly, R-N.Y., if he wins.
