Universal resurrects long-dormant 'Brides'

LOS ANGELES, March 29 (UPI) -- Writers have finally been hired by Universal for its long-delayed film "Beautiful Asian Brides," it was reported Wednesday.

Actress Lucy Liu is expected to star in the film now being written by Steven Gary Banks and Claudia Grazioso of the Ice Cube comedy, "Are We There Yet?," Daily Variety reported.

The comedy will center around the exploits of a man who goes undercover as a mail-order bride after he is wrongfully accused of murder.

The film will be produced by Liu and Brian Grazer.
