LOS ANGELES, March 29 (UPI) -- Actress Delta Burke blamed "a clumsy moment" for a fractured ankle suffered during a rehearsal for her Los Angeles play "Southern Baptist Sissies."
"I wish I could blame it on choreography, but it's not a musical," she said in a news release Wednesday. "I just had a clumsy moment."
Burke was injured when she fell from a riser Sunday, but her fractured left ankle was not discovered until Tuesday.
Playwright Del Shores' production was pushed back a week and the opening was rescheduled for next Wednesday.
Burke -- a two-time Emmy nominee for her performance as Suzanne Sugarbaker on the comedy "Designing Women" -- plays three roles in "Southern Baptist Sissies," which looks at four gay men who were raised as Baptists.
