NEW YORK, March 24 (UPI) -- Tony Award winner Martin Short is being joined in his upcoming Broadway show by Mary Birdsong of "Reno 911" and "Mad TV's" Nicole Parker.

Brook Ashmanskas and Capathia Jenkins will also perform alongside the comic in "Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me," which he wrote with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman from "Hairspray," Playbill.com reported Friday.

The show is described as "an improbable musical version" of Short's life story.

It opens in San Francisco April 25 and stops in Toronto and Chicago before opening at a yet-to-be named Broadway theater Aug. 10.
