SUTTON COURTENAY, England, March 24 (UPI) -- British actress Helena Bonham-Carter has bought a historic mansion in Oxfordshire that was once owned by her great-great grandfather.

The actress paid 2 million pounds ($3.4 million) for the estate of the Liberal Prime Minister Herbert Asquith, The Mirror reported Friday.

Bonham-Carter and her husband, director Tim Burton, will set up housekeeping on the 8.5 acre estate with their 2-year-old son, Billy Ray, the newspaper said.

Asquith used to meet with his successor, David Lloyd George, in the library of the eight-bedroom home.

The estate was later bought by the Baroness Asquith of Yarnbury, also known as Bonham-Carter's grandma, Violet.
