White, whose credits include "School of Rock," "The Good Girl" and "Nacho Libre," said he wrote "The Year of the Dog" especially for Shannon.

The story is about a secretary who lives alone with her dog and what happens to her when her beloved pet dies, The Reporter said.

White and Shannon previously worked together on his Fox TV series, "Cracking Up."
